10 Apr Serene Places: Get Your Hands Dirty
April is a good time to get outdoors. We give you some suggestions for where to go to unwind, reflect and admire nature.
MILDRED MATHIAS BOTANICAL GARDEN
A great place for a contemplative stroll. It is described as a living museum and used as an educational aid for teaching undergraduates at UCLA. Wander along the quiet, winding paths to look at specimens from Australia, Hawaii and China. Terrapins’ heads stick out of a murky pond next to a bamboo grove, which seems to be the focal point. Each plant is labeled diligently, gently causing you to reconsider the ones which look like weeds. Visit: 8am-5pm. 100 Stein Plaza Driveway, Los Angeles, California 90095. More info: botgard.ucla.edu
